  • We already have an in-store retail terminal. Why can't we just take credit card information from our website and process it offline?

    Credit card companies have very strict policies regarding the processing of credit cards. Processing online orders through a store terminal violates the terms of most merchant account agreements, and is non-compliant with PCI security guidelines. In addition, processing transactions that are manually entered into a terminal are processed at a higher rates than swiped(card present) or online transactions.

  • Can we skip the merchant account, and just accept PayPal or Google Checkout on our site?

    A merchant account through RetailPoint Merchant services will give your web store a credible, professional appearance, which will help to increase conversion rates. In addition, your web store customers will have a more streamline checkout process. RetailPoint's Ecommerce sites are not configured to work with third-party processors.

  • Can I have multiple websites with one merchant account?

    No. According to credit card and processor regulations, each internet store front must have its own merchant account. The merchant application process is typically quick and easy with most businesses.

  • Can RetailPoint Merchant Services process orders for international merchants?

    No. At this time, Retailpoint is unable to provide its credit card processing services to merchants outside of the United States. For more information, please call (800) 694-1826.

  • Do I have to be a U.S. citizen in order to set up a merchant account through Retailpoint?

    Yes. Merchant Services are limited to U.S. citizens only (Resident Alien status will not be approved).

  • Does RetailPoint offer both swipe and online credit card processing?

    Yes. Retailpoint Merchant services offers a variety of different card processing options-  Integrated processing via RetailPoint POS software, Stand-alone or mobile Terminal Processing, Mobile Smart-Phone Processing, and Online ecommerce processing. Please call (800) 694-1826, and we'll be glad to assist you in determining what type(s) of merchant account will best suit your business.   • Can I accept American Express through Retailpoint Credit Card Processing Services?

    Yes. You will be able to specify whether or not you would  like to accept American Express during the application process.

  • Can I accept debit cards through Retailpoint Card Processing Services?

    Yes. Retailpoint Merchant Services will allow you to accept debit cards and standard bank-issued credit cards.

  •  Can I accept electronic checks through Retailpoint Merchant services?

    No. Retailpoint Merchant Services doesn't provide electronic check processing at this time. For more information, please call (800) 694-1826.

  •  What is a Chargeback?

    Chargeback is a transaction that is returned to the merchant by the card-issuing bank. This typically happens when a customer is disputing a transaction. The merchant bank has the option of returning or "charging back" the merchant for the disputed transaction.

  • What is a discount rate?

    Discount rate is a percentage of each transaction that the merchant is charged by the provider for facilitating a credit card transaction.

  •  What is an Interchange?

    Interchange is the cost of exchanging  transactions between the credit card processing network and the issuing bank.

  • Can I view my customers' full credit card number?

    No. PCI compliance regulations prevent merchants being able to view full credit card numbers of their customers.

Application approval

  • How long can I expect the approval process to take on a new merchant application?

    Most applications receive approval 2-3 business days, some may take 5-7 business days.

  • How will I know if my application has been accepted?

    Once the merchant application has been processed, you'll be contacted via email by a RetailPoint Merchant Services Representative.

  • Will I need to purchase a SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) in order to be approved for an online merchant account?

    Yes. Final approval in the application process will require your ecommerce site to have a functional  SSL certificate with a minimum 128-bit encryption for all credit card processing information.

  • What are the chances of my application getting approved?

    Our success rate is very high at getting merchant applications approved. If for some reason the application looks like it might be denied, or merchant services experts will work closely with the underwriting team to come up with a workable solution to get your merchant application approved.

  • Is it possible to get a merchant account with bad credit?

    Although it cannot be guaranteed, our merchant services experts will work closely with the underwriting team to help get the application approved, regardless of your credit standing.

  • We are a new business with no history, are we still eligible for a merchant account?

    Yes. Retailpoint's merchant service experts work with a multitude of new businesses owners every year to become online merchants.

  •  How do I link my merchant account to my Retailpoint store?

  • How long before a card can be processed on the website?

    Typically merchants are able to accept credit cards through their web store within two to four business days.

  • How long will it take to receive funds after transactions are processed?

    Funds are usually available for withdrawal 2-3 days after the credit card companies settle the credit card transaction batches.

  • How do I change my personal account information once the application has submitted and/or approved?

    Any changes to your merchant application will need to be completed by a Retailpoint Merchant Services Representative. To submit changes, please email your request to merchantservices@retailpoint.com from the address you entered on your application.
